Margaret Timbrell (b. 1979, São Paulo, Brazil) is a San Francisco–based needlework artist. Her work engages contemporary culture through language, technology, parenthood, and labor. She uses embroidery, latch hook, rug tufting, and textile installation to translate visual systems from advertising and digital space into hand-made form.

A National Merit Scholar, she earned a B.S. in Studio Art from New York University. She is known for large-scale textile works, including a 15-foot latch-hook portrait of Minnie Pearl for the Graduate Hotel Nashville, featured in Handcrafted Hotels: Nashville on Discovery+. She has also completed a residency with the Sweet Dreams Society at the Graduate Hotel Berkeley.

Her work has been exhibited at the de Young Museum, Bolinas Museum, San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles, and Marin Museum of Contemporary Art. It has been featured in Architectural Digest, The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, SF Examiner, and Bust Magazine.

She is the recipient of an SF Arts Commission Artist Grant, a Center for Cultural Innovation Quick Grant, a Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Artist Stipend, a CERF+ grant, and a full scholarship to the European Cultural Academy in Venice. She lives and works in San Francisco.
