Studio in San Francisco. Commissions, exhibitions and press inquiries welcome.
Margaret Timbrell stitches the language of everyday life — autocorrect mistakes, rejection letters, job titles that never existed — into embroidery, latch hook and large-scale tapestry. Her needlework treats a craft historically kept in the home as a medium for public, architectural-scale work.
Her 9′ × 15′ latch hook portrait of Minnie Pearl was commissioned for Graduate Hotel Nashville, and the parrot tapestry Default Cupertino hangs at The Graduate Berkeley. Work has been covered by Architectural Digest, the Washington Post and the LA Times.
